The number of consumers of National
Microfinance Bank (NMB) has increased by 30 per cent from 600,000 to 1,700,000 for the
past six years.
NMB Marketing Manager, Ms Shilla Hatibu
Senkoro, said in Dar es Salaam that the bank branches have also
increased from 100 to 140 countrywide, saying the bank has installed a
total of 450 Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) to facilitate the services.
Ms Senkoro was speaking after announcing
winners of draw dubbed ‘Ki college zaidi na NMB’ (More scholarly with
the NMB), a promotion drive that aims at encouraging higher learning
institution students to use bank services in which two University of
Dodoma (UDOM) students won I pads in the draw.
She named the UDOM students who emerged
winners with I pads as Chacha Mchemcho and Kelvin Gabone while four
others took Sumsung Galax mobile phones and 30 others took the national
team jerseys.
“Ki-college promotion is for students with NMB account
which helps them to win different rewards including Ipads, Samsung Galax
and solar power lamps,” she said.
She further pointed out that a student
can open an NMB Student Account with 10,000/- whereby a customer would
be provided with NMB ATM card and that NMB Mobile service is free for
any customer.
“We have also introduced NMB Faraja initiative which helps
customers with NMB Personal Accounts to get at least 600,000/- in case
of personal or family problems,” she said.
