Turkish businessmen are planning to
invest in the energy sector after being impressed with available
opportunities in the country.
Briefing reporters on visit of the 13
Turkish businessmen in the country in Dar es Salaam, the Turkish
Ambassador, Mr Ali Dovutlouglu, said the delegation was in the country
to find strategic business partners to invest in the energy.
He said the delegation which includes the members of Turkish
Electrical Technology Exporters Association (TET) intends to create a
long term partnership that will add to the development of bilateral
economic relations between Tanzania and Turkey.
“The delegation will be meeting with
Tanzania business community for the three next three days on a programme
to exchange ideas on how to develop alternative business ventures,” he
said.
According to the Ambassador, the Turkish electrical sector exports
more than 10 billion US Dollar worth of products worldwide with Europe
being the main market.
Mr Dovutlouglu urged Tanzanian
businessmen to take this opportunity to meet with the delegation who are
in the country.
Eng Aloys Mwamanga, who is the vice chairman of
Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF), said Tanzania has had good
trade relationship with Turkey since the establishment of its embassy in
the country in 2009.
“The Tanzanian business community is
eager to meet with the delegation as Turkey’s technology is recognized
worldwide for quality,” he added.
He thanked the government for
facilitating the relationship between Turkish and Tanzanian business
community and that the Turkish delegation’s visit was the results of
President Jakaya Kikwete’s visit to Turkey in February 2010 when he led
the delegation to discuss several initiatives at both government and
private sector levels.
