Precision Air (PW) will today open its state-of-the-art hangar at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA).
The PW Chief Executive Officer and
Managing Director Mr Alfonse Kioko said in Dar es Salaam that the new
facility has been designed to meet all the maintenance, repair and
overhaul (MRO) requirements and regulations for the airline’s ever
growing fleet of aircraft.
“The first in-house maintenance of one
of our aircraft is a major milestone in Precision Air journey,” said Mr
Kioko.
Built on a land area of 3,478 square metres, the new hanger also
allows PW to offer maintenance services to other aircrafts across the
globe.
He said the aim of the facility is to manage the maintenance of
the growing fleet of Precision Air aircraft in-house instead of
outsourcing outside the country.
The modern facility will create more
jobs for Tanzanians and conserve foreign exchange. Most importantly is
to enhance safety standards and reduce maintenance costs in order to
provide passengers a service for the value of their fares.
It will also
extend maintenance to other operators in and outside the country as an
opportunity to promote Tanzania and earn foreign money.
Mr Kioko stated that this capability
will allow the airline to maintain its rapidly growing fleet with
state-of-the art facility and a team of world-class expertise, as the
airline continues to expand its route network.
