More than 2,000 domestic and
international exhibitors are expected to take part in the 39th Dar es
Salaam International Trade Fair (DIFT) this year.
The Director General of the Tanzania
Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE), Ms Jacqueline Maleko, told a
news conference in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the preparations of the
39th DITF are on the final stages for the exhibitions to take off at end
of this month.
“Generally, we are on the right track
with the trade fair preparations that will attract local exhibitors
including ministries, public and private enterprises as well as
international firms,” she said.
A total of 1,700 domestic firms and over
500 foreign firms will take part in the show. She said the trade fair
was an occasion for Tanzanians to explore immense business and
technological opportunities to seal business deals with the
international companies.
The theme of the 39th trade fair is “Linking
production to markets.”
As an annual event, it provides a rare
opportunity for investors to explore and identify various investment
ventures in Tanzania.
Furthermore, the trade fair is an
important ground for local manufacturers to observe and learn on how to
produce goods of international standards that could easily penetrate and
compete in the global markets.
Ms Maleko also urged local manufacturers
to find the necessary market information before producing goods that
would help them become competitive in the global markets.
She called upon local exhibitors to abide to rules and regulations by tax and food and drugs regulatory authorities.
