Prof Kamuzora to sit on CTA board

 Prof Faustin Kamuzora.The African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) - European Union (EU) committee of Ambassadors has appointed a Tanzanian, Prof Faustin Kamuzora (pictured), an Executive Board Member of the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (Centre Technique de Cooperation Agricole et rurale - CTA).

CTA was established in 1983 under the Lome Convention between the ACP group of states and the EU member states. Since 2000 it has operated within the framework of the ACP-EU Cotonou Agreement and its amendments.

CTA is funded by the EU and its mandate is to strengthen policy and institutional capacity development and information and communication management capabilities of ACP agricultural and rural development organisations.

According to the CTA director, Mr Michael Hailu, the appointment will be for a five-year term effective from November 7th, 2013 up to November 6th, 2018. The Board comprises six members, three from the ACP while the other three, come from the EU.

Prof Kamuzora is also a Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Finance and Administration at Mzumbe University, he represents the Eastern Africa region on the Board.

The Director of Communications, Mzumbe University, Ms Rainfrida Ngatunga said Prof Kamuzora’s appointment is a honour to the varsity, Tanzania and Africa in general.

“We commend him for this appointment, he is making our university and Tanzania shine in international arena,” she said in a statement. She said Prof Kamuzora’s hard working, experience and commitment were among factors behind his success.
