NBC dishes out 100m/- for youth training

At least 3,100 Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro based youths will benefit from the employment and entrepreneurship training supported by the National Bank of Commerce (NBC).

The support was announced in Dar es Salaam late Tuesday by the NBC Managing Director, Ms Mizinga Melu, at a brief ceremony to launch the training organised by the Tanzania Youth Alliance (TAYOA).

Ms Melu said NBC believed in a bid to expand its business should ensure the growth of the surrounding society, especially the youth and women.

“In realising the implementation of the project to enable youth in the areas of its operations, NBC has made available 100m/- to sustain its development projects in support of youths,” said Ms Melu.

She said NBC deeply understood the need to invest and educate the Tanzanian youth and young mothers in employability, entrepreneurship and how to manage their incomes and nurture their businesses.

The cooperation between NBC and TAYOA seeks to directly and through online learning to enable more than 3,100 youth from Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro regions by imparting to them appropriate knowledge that will allow them to reach their targets and subsequently uplift their living conditions.

“We have decided to give this support to TAYOA because we believe that TAYOA, with long time immense experience in working with youth is in a good position of understanding the needs of the youth and the best solutions to their problems," said Ms Melu.

TAYOA Director General, Peter Masika, said they designed an online school of employability and entrepreneurship that leverages on what the government, private sector and local communities could do to support and promote employability and entrepreneurship among the youth.
