Oil and gas industry tailor-made software was launched in Dar es Salaam yesterday amid expectations of reduced costs and provision of end-to-end visibility across the business and supply chain.Speaking at the launching ceremony, the Bluekey Managing Director, Ms Mala Bhatt said that the SAP Business One oil and gas solution was developed to satisfy multitudes of specific requirements in the sector.
"We invested a significant amount of time and resources gathering information about the oil and gas sector by consulting many different industry professionals, working closely with petroleum distributions and through the insights gained.
"We developed something that satisfies the needs of downstream oil and gas companies whose core focus is on import, export, distribution and marketing of oil and gas products," she explained.
She said that there was an automating component for procurement where the process for costing per shipment, tracking of products with both observed and quality at 20, integrated Bon tracking is online.
Recent oil discoveries have positioned East Africa the next lucrative international oil and gas market.
Economic growth and deregulation of the sector has led to an increase in competition. "We are targeting those companies which want to get the edge above the rest," she explained.
Ms Bhatt said her company needed to constantly innovate and refresh their products and services and make it known to the industry specialists such that they are able to retain their customers.
Bluekey Country Manager Santone Lange said the software dwelt on enterprise resource planning (ERP) whereby management was by exception, meaning that when the business isn't going right, they are first to be detected.
Mr Lange said that enterprise resource management was not just about the product, so for an ERP project to be successful it takes the application and dedication of the right people from both Bluekey and the customer.
