Postal Bank supports Wasira Primary School

Mr Moshingi
Tanzania Postal Bank (TPB) has supported Steven Wasira Primary School in Mariwanda Village in Bunda district by constructing two classrooms worth 20m/-.

The decision to build the classrooms for the school was made following a plea from the village leadership that sent a proposal to TPB.

The TPB Chief Executive Officer, Sabasaba Moshingi, said among the challenges facing the school were lack of toilets for students and teachers, lack of enough class rooms, desks and teachers’ quarters.

“The Bank decided to spend 20m/- for construction of two high quality classrooms for the school to enable students to study comfortably,” Mr Moshingi said in statement over the weekend.

The school, located about 40 kilometres from Bunda town, has 260 students who use the three available classrooms.

The school has three teachers who have to travel a long distance of about seven kilometres from outside the village due to lack of housing in Mariwanda.

Receiving the support, the school head teacher Damian Wegina, thanked the banks for its kindness, urging other stakeholders to continue assisting the school which still faces a lot of problems.

The Minister of State in the President’s Office, Social Relations and Coordination, Mr Steven Wassira, who is also Bunda MP, officiated at the handing over ceremony.
