Total Tanzania has launched challenge start-upper of the year as part of the firm’s global initiative of supporting social economic development of all the countries where it operates worldwide.
“Initiated by the Total Group in 34 African countries simultaneously, this contest aims at identifying, rewarding and accompanying the best projects in enterprise creation or development in less than two years old in Tanzania,” Total Tanzania said in a statement issued in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
The winning projects will be granted the start-upper of the year 2016 by Total label, with a financial support and coaching.
“This call for projects is free and open to any Tanzanian citizen who is between 18 and 35 years old,” read the statement. The application process started on November 1, 2015 for candidates to apply until January 31, 2016.
A jury of professionals will preselect up to ten of the best projects in Tanzania based on the following criteria - innovativeness, original, how daring the project is, its development potential and capacity to improve the living conditions of populations.
The finalists’ list will be published on the website of the contest by February 28, 2016.
After candidates’ defence which will take place by March 15, 2016, the jury will choose three best projects and results will be announced during the awards ceremony.
“It is a very concrete action launched to locally contribute to the reinforcement of the industrial fabric and to employment on the African continent by supporting most daring and innovative entrepreneurs in realising their projects.
“This approach targets the emergence of new initiatives while respecting the Total Group values,” read the statement.
