A Tanzanian international chef, Mr Issa Kapande (pictured), has opened a restaurant in Trollhattan, Sweden to bring to the Nordic country special Tanzania cuisine.
The restaurant was opened by Tanzanian Ambassador to Sweden, Ms Dora Msechu, at a colourful event attended by officials of the Trollhattan town, and customers eager to enjoy a wide selection of delicious Tanzanian dishes.
Ambassador Msechu congratulated Mr Kapande for managing to open what is billed to the biggest African restaurant in Europe.
She congratulated a host in the Trollhattan, Torvald Brahm for supporting the Tanzanian until he realised his dream of opening an eatery in Sweden specialising in Tanzanian foods.
Ambassador Msechu said the new venture by the Tanzanian showed that it was possible for Tanzanians abroad to set up ventures in various sectors.
The mayor and the chairman of the town Paul Akerlund and his deputy, Peter Eriksson attended the opening ceremony. Mr Kapande, alias chef Issa, said in an interview later that hard work and perseverance in his career were behind his success.
He put up efforts to learn from international chefs and was determined in his resolve to own a restaurant in Europe that specialises in Tanzanian cuisines.
Mr Kapande, an undisputed leading chef for Tanzanian recipes, has spent years cheffing in top restaurants and hotels in Europe. He recently opened a hotel in Mtwara Region.
