Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), the country’s agency responsible for investment promotion and facilitation, has officially introduced its website in China.
TIC becomes among the first investment promotion agencies from the Southern African Development Community region to offer such level of detailed information to the Chinese.
It is expected that the website—www.tic.co.tz—will transform the way Tanzanians at home and foreign investors interact with the government and complete administrative procedures like company registration, taxation and other services.
TIC Executive Director Juliet Kairuki (pictured), who is part of the country’s delegation to China, introduced the website at the Tanzania-China Business Forum in the Chinese city of Guangzhou.
Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda is leading a high powered delegation on a nine-day tour of China to bolster trade and investment links between the two countries.
“TIC’s website provides a one-stop platform for domestic and foreign investors to access information relevant to making investments in Tanzania,” she said during the launch.
As part of an on-going and concerted effort to improve the investment climate in the country, TIC strives to offer relevant information to prospective and actual investors to help them navigate the administrative process in Tanzania.
Ms Kairuki said the newly launched website states clearly the official government sanctioned fees that may need to be paid for a particular administrative step - eliminating any confusion.
“The information is available in over 60 different languages, including of course Swahili,” she explained, adding that the web provides up to date contact information on responsible officials for each administrative process.
