Mobile phone operator, Tigo, yesterday
introduced the custom-made SIM cards or ‘smartcards,’ for BlackBerrys, Android
phones and iPhones, as demand for such gadgets gains momentum in the
country.
The smartcards are optimised
for the mobile phone company’s smartphones specific data requirements.
“Each smart phone has specific needs,
and that is why we have designed smartcards tailored to cater for these needs.
The smartcard packages will be available to both our current and new
customers,” said Alice Maro, Tigo Public Relations officer.
Ms Maro said Taigo clients should expect
a lot of new and innovative services, thanks to the company’s ongoing network
expansion programme.
“So far, we have invested a total of 100 million US dollars this year alone to upgrade our services and install new base
stations nationwide.
This material investment will increase network capacity,
improve coverage and enhance users’ experience,” she said. The expansion is
expected to be completed by end of this year.
