Customers of Mbinga Community Bank (MCB), Mbinga in Ruvuma Region has
all reasons to smile after the bank joined UmojaSwitch's ATM services that are
scattered across the country.
The bank joined the network, which would enable all the bank's customers to inter-operate, after
being issued by Umoja ATM card to warrant the accessibility of UmojaSwitch
network.
During the launch held in Mbinga, Mr Shedehwa said that they
appreciated a lot the efforts and cooperation which were shown by UmojaSwitch
in a process of integrating the bank.
"Invite all customers from MCB to start using the ATM services at
their bank and also elsewhere as long as there is a sign of UmojaSwitch on the
ATM lobby," Mr Shedehwa said.
On his part, Mr Mbilinyi said MCB has expanded their outreach as other
members could enjoy ATM services in Mbinga, likewise the bank's customers
outside the district.
"The main objective is to provide services which are reliable,
affordable and accessible across the country," he said.
UmojaSwitch is a nation-wide network which is owned by banks having
over 24 member banks. UmojaSwitch started in 2006 and six banks joined and
formed a consortium with the aim of providing electronic payment transfers to
its members.
Due to tremendous increase of member banks, the Consortium changed the
structure and became a company which is still owned by member banks. Despite
all the challenges, UmojaSwitch was positively supporting the bank until the
last day.
