Tanzania Telecommunication Company Limited (TTCL), yesterday launched Customer Service Week while pledging to execute major changes to cope up with fast changing communication environment.
The week is celebrated every October where firms rejoice the importance of customer services and the people who serve and support customers daily.
TTCL chief executive officer, Dr Kamugisha Kazaura said the telecom firm has decided to join other institutions to celebrate the Customer Service Week to offer customers chance to know various service offered and give their comments with regards to services offered.
“We also aims at using the week to inform the public about our current and new products to retain and attract new customers,” said Dr Kazaura.
He said one of the product currently under test is Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) though which television services are delivered using the Internet protocol suite over a packet-switched network.
IPTV is currently tested in Mwanza, Arusha, Mbeya and Zanzibar with the results expected to influence decision to deploy the technology countrywide. With the technology customers will only need to have cable to get the service.
Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at TTCL, Peter Ngota said there are ongoing preparations to deploy 4G network by the end of this year. “Our plan is to shift from only offering cable data service to wireless and voice which we are yet to do better.
That is why we are planning to deploy 4G technology,” he said. TTCL whose core business have been data service is now looking to adopt 4G network for wireless connection, invest in voice and launch Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service.
According to him, a lot have been done with regard to data service in the country and in some neighbouring states.
