Fastjet adds more Dar-Jo’burg flights

In response to strong passenger demand, Fastjet pan-African budget airline, has increased the number of flights on its international network from Dar es Salaam to Johannesburg.

Fastjet now offers daily flights from Dar es Salaam to Johannesburg, providing passengers with increased and more convenient travel options at affordable fares.

Speaking to air transport stakeholders in Dar es Salaam yesterday, the company’s General Manager for East Africa, Mr Jimmy Kibati, said the new routes commenced officially earlier this month.

Mr Kibati said low cost fare will be US$50 (about 106,500/-) for a one-way trip which would include the cost of the airport and government levies.

“Air transport helps in the economic growth of African countries as many business people use it for freight transport and travelling from one place to another,” said Kibati.

He also said that Fastjet intends to bring other types of A319 Aircraft for the company, to reach four. The Manager said they expect to open an office in Zimbabwe and Zambia, adding that two planes were ready to commence trips to those countries.

Fastjet has doubled its frequency on the route launched recently in Dar es Salaam to Lilongwe from two to four trips a week.

He stressed that air transport passengers now have to book tickets in advance and pay for the luggage for the relevant time to minimize disruption arising prior to the client to commence the trip.

He said those customers can use the Internet, M-pesa and Airtel Money for booking their tickets before starting a journey.
