DSE trading slightly drops

MarketTurnover at the Dar es Salaam bourse has for the second consecutive time registered substantial decline to 665.5m/-, equivalent to 43.8 per cent fall, from 1.18bn/- of the last session.

Similarly, activity levels plummeted with traded shares reduced to 663,926 shares, 42.6 per cent down in comparison with 1,156,423 shares that changed hands in the previous market.

According to the weekly market report by the Tanzania Securities Limited (TSL) the bourse’s index closed the week down by 1.31 per cent at 1,923.57 points, while the All share Index gained 0.43 per cent to record 2,919.67 points.

Banking segment Index strengthened by a 2.2 per cent up to close the period under review at 2,648.55 points, with much contribution from CRDB’s price increase compared to the previous period.

However, the Industrial and Allied Index weakened to 3,461.05 points, a 0.44 per cent down, dragged by the price loss of 20/- on the TBL counter.

The period under review saw the Banking segment being active although the turnover was lower compared to the Industrial and Allied sector.

The sector moved 8 per cent of the market turnover and 92 per cent of the total volume changed hands during the week.

CRDB maintained its rally for most of the week with its counter transacting 522,588 shares during the week at prices of 300/- and 320/-. NMB had 49,398 shares changing hands during the week at a price of 2,660/-.

There was no activity on the TBL counter. However, the Industrial and Allied Segment posted a higher turnover compared to the Banking sector this week.

TCC was the most active counter in the Industrial sector, trading 23,248 shares during the week at prices of 8,600/- per share. TBL followed with 15,588 shares transacted at a price of 8,100/-.

Simba counter had 8,404 shares transacted with its price closing the week higher than the prevoius week at 2,380/-.

A total of 2,757 shares of Swissport, were transacted at a price of 2,700/- while Twiga counter had 254 shares traded at 2,660/-, Tatepa counter had 106 shares traded at 650/- while TOL counter had 42 shares traded at 310/-. There was no activity at PAL counter during the week.
