BOA to expand branch network

BANK of Africa-Tanzania, has unveiled its plans of expanding its operations in the country by increasing its branch network to 30 in two years.

Speaking during the Family Day event in Dar es Salaam over the weekend, the bank’s Managing Director, Mr Ammish Owusu-Amoah said the increased branches, by 2015, would help to adequately meet the economic development needs of the country.

“Currently we have 19 branches in Tanzania, and our operations in 17 countries across Africa, but our goal is to extend our footprints across the country and serve the vast majority of Tanzanians”, Mr Owusu Amoah said.

Mr Owusu also reiterated his bank’s focus on the SME sector through its 12 million US dollars (19.2bn/-) that has been set aside. BOA is also conducting training on financial matters for the SMEs.

This year the bank has opened two branches in Mtwara and Kahama which is part of long term plan of the bank to be present in every major towns of the country.

On his part, the bank’s Marketing Manager, Solomon Haule, said the event was meant to enhance a sense of togetherness within the bank in line with the bank’s slogan “As close as a group as strong as a partner.”

Out of the bank network of 19 branches, 10 are located in Dar es Salaam, while nine others are in Arusha, Mwanza, Kilimanjaro (Moshi), Morogoro (Morogoro city centre and Mtibwa), Mbeya, Tunduma Kahama and Mtwara.
