Airtel supports education sector

Airtel Tanzania, a mobile phone services provider, has vowed to solve some of the challenges in the education sector including provision of teaching facilities and learning materials.

Airtel through its project dubbed 'Shule yetu' has donated science textbooks worth 5/- m to Chalinze Secondary School.

Speaking at the handing over of the books, Airtel Marketing Manager of the Southern zone and Morogoro Region, Ms Aminata Keita, said the books would be useful to increase the level of understanding and performance to students.

"These books will be used to promote student's performance and enable them to learn better," said Aminata .

She went on to say that donated books were part of a strategic plan to help ward or community schools which are blamed to perform poorly in national examinations.

"We have given science books because many students are not performing well in those subjects and I believe this project 'Shule yetu' will enable community schools do well on national exams," said Aminata.

Chalinze Secondary School Headmaster, Mr Emmanuel Kahabi, said access to books will make teaching work easier and enable students understand easily.
