DHL appoints new country manager

DHL Express has appointed Ahmed Abdi its Country Manager for Tanzanian operations. 

Mr Abdi is tasked with driving DHL’s fast growing presence in the country, providing strategic direction and overseeing customer management, sales, marketing and operations in Tanzania, one of DHL Express most vibrant markets in Africa.

The firm’s Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Mr Charles Brewer, announcing the appointment in Dar es Salaam, described Abdi as an ideal choice because of his wide experience in all aspects of the express business particularly at this time when the firm is expanding its footprint in East Africa region.

“Tanzania is a key market for our operations in East Africa. I am confident Abdi will lead the business here to greater heights, which will benefit East Africa as a whole,” said Brewer.

Mr Abdi served as Finance Manager for DHL Express Equatorial Africa for several years and he was once based in Tanzania as Financial and Systems Development Manager. 

DHL Tanzania is headquartered in Dar -es- Salaam and has about 47 service point retail outlets across the country.

It employs about 100 staff in Tanzania, serving over 1,000 customers across industries—manufacturing, pharmaceutical, ICT, aviation, mining, gas, financial sector, hospitals, media tourism diplomatic missions and non governmental organizations (NGOs).
