Backbenchers in the House demanded to know the national debt and what government is doing to settle the debts. The legislators also complained over lack of a fixed assets register in ministries.
In response the minister informed the House that the ministry is proceeding with the registration of all government properties using the assets register. “We have undertaken the exercise in five ministries,” he said.
He said that since the exercise is expensive and sensitive, and government has asked for support from developing partners, and it would be done gradually under supervision of financial consultant.
