Honda Brio Make |
Honda Cars India has started exporting Brio Make to South Africa and
plans to do the same for Tanzania and other Southern African Development
Community (Sadc) countries.
To begin with the company said yesterday that it was targeting the
market in a bid to push shipping of its 1,600 units of the hatchback Brio by
the end of this fiscal year.
"We are first shipping the Brio to South Africa. We are also
targeting such other countries as Tanzania, Kenya, Mauritius and Seychelles,”
Honda Cars India (Hci) senior vice-president Jnaneswar Sen said here.
The shipment means that the eagerly awaited newcomer will reach Honda
dealer showrooms in SA on schedule in early December.
The consignment represents a significant milestone for Honda Cars India
Limited (HCIL), because it marks the first export of Honda products from HCIL
to SA. “The export of Brios to the highly sophisticated SA market underscores
the world-class quality of the cars we produce,” says HCIL president and CEO,
Hironori Kanayama.
The pending arrival of the stylish new Brio is already causing much
excitement among both existing and prospective Honda customers.
The compact hatchback will become the brand’s most affordable offering
to date, and as a Honda product, will bring its advanced technology and
legendary quality to a wider audience than ever before.
Despite its entry-level status, the Brio epitomises Honda’s close focus
on latest-generation technology, tactile quality and long-term durability.
For instance, the hatchback employs Honda’s Advanced Compatibility
Engineering (ACE), which creates the robust framework required to ensure high
standards of safety and longevity.
