AIR Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) has leased a Boeing 737-500 plane that is expected to arrive in the country tomorrow, according to a statement released by the company yesterday.

The 108-seater plane has been leased from Aero Vista Dubai and has already undergoingy inspection by a team of experts from the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) in Cairo, Egypt where the aircraft was flown from Dubai last week.

“Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority experts have completed inspection of the plane in Cairo, Egypt and the plane will be flown into the country today. Approval has be granted for the plane to operate in the country.

“The plane that has already been branded with ATCL corporate colours is configured to carry 12 passengers in the business class as well as 96 passengers in the economy class,” the statement said.

The ATCL Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr  Paul Chizi while speaking to reporters in Dar es Salaam a few weeks back hinted on the acquisition plans of the plane but did not give details and specifications of the plane.

Chizi, however, noted that the acquisition of the plan was rather a short-term plan to enhance the company’s service delivery urging that his company has got a long-term plan that will be implemented accordingly,” he said.

ATCL has recently launched a website in order to improve customer service delivery as well as boosting the national flag carrier’s efficiency.

The website enables customers would to make bookings without having to go through ATCL's offices or agents and enables customers to air their views through social networks.
